Yea what is trace mode.. i know if i want to go on a different frequency i can use trace mode.. but whats up wit this?

all trace mode is, is a way to have your phone tell you what cell site, radio, freq, and color code you are using ... some of that "might" not make since, but that is the stuff I deal with while working with the Rf people :hammer:

It can also change those things aswell... for instance if your service isn't strong when you know it should be better. Goto frequency then trace mode... and once you get more or better service stop it.

not true .. all trace mode does is tell you what site and freq you are using. you cannot change what you are on. Trace mode is set up for the RF drivetesters to make sure everything IS working. If you could actually change what the info was, I would out of a job LOL

I bellieve on my phone, i95, that when i didnt have service, i was told to goto the menu then frquency then put it in trace mode. While it was in it, every few seconds a new frequency would appear on the display and my service would vary.

So it works for not only falcons, but condors??

Trace mode is for informational purposes only... it wont make anything better by trying to constantly look at the signal strength..

on falcon phones, (i530, i730, i830, etc) it shows up a little differently.

for falcon phones, its split up into two catagories. Tx Status, and Rx Status. Transmit & recieve.

(eace site has an average of 15 to 24 and maybe 36 freq's depending on other variations of the site itsself) When you were in trace mode and you seen the freq change, that is all that you were seeing. "You" did not change the performance at all. All "they" had you do was watch the trace mode until you got a good strong freq for your area and you could use your phone a little better. :D

So i stared at the meter for nothing lol.... :super:

i go to the trace mode then go to err/channel then switch it and i get better service but i gotta do it everytime i put the phone on

I am currently looking to have my pallette scheme changed on my i730 and was asked to go into trace mode, then unit info to find out what letter is included in the phone model (i730T?). I was told that this info is needed to create the pallette and some of the other features I was looking for.
Unfortunately, the only thing that comes up in phone model is i730.
Am I missing something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No, what they wanted to know is the version of the software on your phone. If you do #, * MENU and the RIGHT directional key u can go to UNIT INFO, then Phone Model, this will tell you your phone Model, ex mine says i860 A. Thats what they wanted to know.
